Two Kuwaiti children died of asphyxia after inhaling poisonous insecticide that spread into their house from a neighbouring food store sprayed by a local company, the Kuwait Alanba newspaper reported on Monday.

The father of the unidentified two, told court his children died after that company illegally used poisonous pesticides and insecticides to spray a new food store set up next to their house in Kuwait City, the paper said.

The paper did not specify the age of the two boys but said the court ordered the company to pay KD100,000 (Dh1.2 million) in damages to the victims’ family.

“This sentence should constitute a deterrent to any company that does not care for human lives and underestimate risks besetting such acts,” the paper quoted lawyer Nawaf Sari as saying.
