What is the main ingredient of WD-40?

What is the main ingredient of WD-40?

Before you read to the end, does anybody know what the main ingredient of WD-40 is? Don't lie and don't cheat. WD-40.
Who knew; I had a neighbor who bought a new pickup. I got up very early one Sunday morning and saw that someone had spray painted red all around the sides of this beige truck (for some unknown reason). I went over, woke him up, and told him the bad news. He was very upset and was trying to figure out what to do.... probably nothing until Monday morning, since nothing was open.
Another neighbor came out and told him to get his WD-40 and clean it off. It removed the unwanted paint beautifully and did not harm his paint job that was on the truck. I'm impressed! WD-40 who knew? 'Water Displacement #40'.
The product began from a search for a rust preventative solvent and degreaser to protect missile parts. WD-40 was created in 1953 by three technicians at the San Diego Rocket Chemical Company. Its name comes from the project that was to find a 'water displacement' compound.. They were successful with the fortieth formulation, thus WD-40. The Convair Company bought it in bulk to protect their atlas missile parts.
Ken East (one of the original founders) says there is nothing in WD-40 that would hurt you... When you read the 'shower door' part, try it. It's the first thing that has ever cleaned that spotty shower door. If yours is plastic, it works just as well as glass. It's a miracle! Then try it on your stove top ... Viola! It's now shinier than it's ever been. You'll be amazed.

WD-40 uses:

1. Protects silver from tarnishing.
2. Removes road tar and grime from cars.
3. Cleans and lubricates guitar strings.
4. Gives floors that 'just-waxed' sheen without making them slippery.
5. Keeps flies off cows.
6. Restores and cleans chalkboards.
7. Removes lipstick stains.
8. Loosens stubborn zippers.
9. Untangles jewelry chains.
10. Removes stains from stainless steel sinks.
11. Removes dirt and grime from the barbecue grill.
12. Keeps ceramic/terra cotta garden pots from oxidizing.
13. Removes tomato stains from clothing.
14. Keeps glass shower doors free of water spots.
15. Camouflages scratches in ceramic and marble floors.
16. Keeps scissors working smoothly.
17. Lubricates noisy door hinges on vehicles and doors in homes.
18. It removes black scuff marks from the kitchen floor! Use WD-40 for those nasty tar and scuff marks on flooring. It doesn't seem to harm the finish and you won't have to scrub nearly as hard to get them off. Just remember to open some windows if you have a lot of marks.
19. Bug guts will eat away the finish on your car if not removed quickly! Use WD-40!
20. Gives a children's playground gym slide a shine for a super fast slide.
21. Lubricates gear shift and mower deck lever for ease of handling on riding mowers...
22. Rids kids rocking chairs and swings of squeaky noises.
23. Lubricates tracks in sticking home windows and makes them easier to open..
24. Spraying an umbrella stem makes it easier to open and close.
25. Restores and cleans padded leather dashboards in vehicles, as well as vinyl bumpers.
26. Restores and cleans roof racks on vehicles.
27. Lubricates and stops squeaks in electric fans
28. Lubricates wheel sprockets on tricycles, wagons, and bicycles for easy handling.
29. Lubricates fan belts on washers and dryers and keeps them running smoothly.
30. Keeps rust from forming on saws and saw blades, and other tools.
31. Removes splattered grease on stove.
32. Keeps bathroom mirror from fogging.
33. Lubricates prosthetic limbs.
34. Keeps pigeons off the balcony (they hate the smell).
35. Removes all traces of duct tape.
36. Folks even spray it on their arms, hands, and knees to relieve arthritis pain.
37. Florida 's favorite use is: 'cleans and removes love bugs from grills and bumpers.'
38. The favorite use in the state of New York , WD-40 protects the Statue of Liberty from the elements.
39. WD-40 attracts fish. Spray a little on live bait or lures and you will be catching the big one in no time. Also, it's a lot cheaper than the chemical attractants that are made for just that purpose. Keep in mind though, using some chemical laced baits or lures for fishing are not allowed in some states.
40. Use it for fire ant bites. It takes the sting away immediately and stops the itch.
41. WD-40 is great for removing crayon from walls. Spray on the mark and wipe with a clean rag.
42. Also, if you've discovered that your teenage daughter has washed and dried a tube of lipstick with a load of laundry, saturate the lipstick spots with WD-40 and rewash. Presto! The lipstick is gone!
43. If you sprayed WD-40 on the distributor cap, it would displace the moisture and allow the car to start.

P.S. The basic ingredient is FISH OIL.

* Case against Monsanto 1st such claim to reach French court
* Monsanto lawyer says "disappointed", envisages appeal
* Pesticide makers see no evidence of major health risk

LYON/PARIS, Feb 13 (Reuters) - A French court on Monday declared U.S. biotech giant Monsanto guilty of chemical poisoning of a French farmer, a judgment that could lend weight to other health claims against pesticides.

In the first such case heard in court in France, grain grower Paul Francois, 47, says he suffered neurological problems including memory loss, headaches and stammering after inhaling Monsanto's Lasso weedkiller in 2004.

He blames the agri-business giant for not providing adequate warnings on the product label.

The ruling was given by a court in Lyon, southeast France, which ordered an expert opinion of Francois's losses to establish the amount of damages.

"It is a historic decision in so far as it is the first time that a (pesticide) maker is found guilty of such a poisoning," François Lafforgue, Francois's lawyer, told Reuters.

Monsanto said it was disappointed by the ruling and would examine whether to appeal the judgment.

"Monsanto always considered that there were not sufficient elements to establish a causal relationship between Paul Francois's symptoms and a potential poisoning," the company's lawyer, Jean-Philippe Delsart, said.

Previous health claims from farmers have foundered because of the difficulty of establishing clear links between illnesses and exposure to pesticides.

Francois and other farmers suffering from illness set up an association last year to make a case that their health problems should be linked to their use of crop protection products.

The agricultural branch of the French social security system says that since 1996, it has gathered farmers' reports of sickness potentially related to pesticides, with about 200 alerts a year.

But only about 47 cases have been recognised as due to pesticides in the past 10 years. Francois, who suffers from neurological problems, obtained work invalidity status only after a court appeal.

LESS INTENSIVE NOW

The Francois case goes back to a period of intensive use of crop-protection chemicals in the European Union. The EU and its member countries have since banned a large number of substances considered dangerous.

Monsanto's Lasso was banned in France in 2007 following an EU directive after the product had already been withdrawn in some other countries.

France, the EU's largest agricultural producer, is now targetting a 50 percent reduction in pesticide use between 2008 and 2018, with initial results showing a 4 percent cut in farm and non-farm use in 2008-2010.

The Francois claim may be easier to argue than others because he can pinpoint a specific incident - inhaling the Lasso when cleaning the tank of his crop sprayer - whereas fellow farmers are trying to show accumulated effects from various products.

"It's like lying on a bed of thorns and trying to say which one cut you," said a farmer, who has recovered from prostate cancer and asked not to be named.

The French association of crop protection companies, UIPP, says pesticides are all subject to testing and that any evidence of a cancer risk in humans leads to withdrawal of products from the market.

"I think if we had a major health problem with pesticides, we would have already known about it," Jean-Charles Bocquet, UIPP's managing director, said.

The social security's farming branch this year is due to add Parkinson's disease to its list of conditions related to pesticide use after already recognising some cases of blood cancers and bladder and respiratory problems.

France's health and environment safety agency (ANSES), meanwhile, is conducting a study on farmers' health, with results expected next year.

Rosemary Found to Offer Best Protection against Radiation Poisoning

Rosemary Found to Offer Best Protection against Radiation Poisoning

http://www.naturalnews.com/026079_radiation_exposure_rosemary.html

(NaturalNews) The U.S. is turning into radiation nation. In the twenty-three years since Chernobyl, Americans seem to have forgotten the impact of radiation on health. Swept up in the euphoria over an endless parade of wireless devices, we have turned our backs on the common sense that informed us that Chernobyl was a really big deal when we heard the news. Today Americans act as though they are addicted to radiation and completely oblivious of the jack-hammering effect it has on human cells. They appear willing to accept cancer and even death as small prices to pay for the ability to communicate with anyone, anywhere, anytime. As the nation eagerly anticipates the rollout of WiMAX, promising bone-incinerating coverage of 3,000 square miles from a single tower, those who object find they have no voice and no choice. However, recent research has shown there are steps to take in self-preservation. Carnosic and rosmarinic acids naturally deter radiation poisoning.

RF/microwave exposure leads to cancer development

It has been know for a decade that RF/microwaves from cell phones and tower transmitters cause damage in human blood cells that results in nuclei splintering off into micronuclei fragments. The development of micronuclei heralds the development of pre-cancerous conditions. Many victims of Chernobyl developed blood cell micronuclei that rapidly turned into full blown cancers.

Numerous animal studies have demonstrated that mobile phone radiation quickly causes DNA single and double strand breaks at levels well below the current federal "safe" standards. A six-year industry study showed that human blood exposure to cell phone radiation had a 300 percent increase in genetic damage in the form of micronuclei, suggesting a health threat much greater than smoking or asbestos.

Compounds from rosemary fight against mutagenic effects of radiation

In two separate studies, scientists in Spain found that nothing fights radiation damage to micronuclei like a simple garden herb known as rosemary. They noted that ionizing radiation causes the massive generation of free radicals that induce cellular DNA damage. They studied the protective effects of several compounds against gamma ray induced chromosomal damage in micronuclei testing by adding various compounds to human blood before and after irradiation. When the compounds were added after gamma-irradiation treatment, the protective effects relied not on scavenging ability, but on activity against free radicals already present in the cells, such as lipoperoxy radicals which are mainly responsible for continuous chromosomal oxidative damage.

The fact that carnosic acid and carnosol found in rosemary are fat soluble allows them to provide highly asignificant protective anti-mutagenic activity. Even the most powerful water-soluble antioxidants lack the capacity to protect against gamma ray induced damage. This study can be found in the British Journal of Radiology, February 2 edition.

In their second study, the generation of radiation induced cellular DNA damage to skin from free radicals was the focus. The researchers sought to demonstrate that rosmarinic acid from rosemary would act as a photo-protector both by acting as a scavenger of free radicals and as an inducer of the body's own endogenous defense mechanisms by regulating tyrosinase activity and stimulating melanin production. They found that formulation of toxic malonyldialdehyde was delayed by the use of rosmarinic acid, and the protection factor was 3.34 times greater than for other compounds studied, as measured in micronucleus testing. In vivo testing showed the capacity of orally administered rosmarinic acid to inhibit skin alterations as a result of UV radiation exposure. This study was reported in the February edition of Food and Chemical Toxicology.

Common food compound protects lymphocytes against radiation

In a study from India, scientists investigated the radio-protective potential of caffeic acid against gamma radiation-induced cellular changes. A dose of 66 microM of caffeic acid showed the optimum protection of micronuclei and was used to investigate the radio-protective effects of the compound. Lymphocytes were pre-incubated with caffeic acid and controls were not. All the lymphocytes were exposed to different doses of radiation. Genetic damage and biochemical changes were measured. Gamma irradiated control lymphocytes showed a radiation dose-dependent increase in genetic damage and a significant decrease in antioxidant status. Caffeic acid pretreated lymphocytes positively modulated all radiation induced changes. This study is found in the 2008 Journal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology.

Food sources offering significant amounts of caffeic acid are apples, citrus fruits, and cruciferous vegetables.

RF/microwave radiation has the same effect on health as gamma rays

A pile of research has confirmed that non-ionizing communications radiation in the RF/microwave spectrum has the same effect on human health as ionizing gamma wave radiation from nuclear reactions. This means that Chernobyl has effectively come to America. Injuries resulting from radioactive radiation are identical with the effects of electromagnetic radiation. In the U.S., deadly high frequency radiation is now blasting from tens of thousands of cell towers and rooftop antennas all over the country. The tiny city of San Francisco, has over 2,500 licensed cell phone antennas positioned at 530 locations to nuke its citizens around the clock.

There is no safe dose of radiation

RF/microwave and gamma waves are identical in their abilities to produce gene damage and cancer at the cellular level, and there is no safe dose of either. Cell damage is not dependent on a certain level of exposure because at any time in that exposure, breaks in DNA can occur.

Communication antennas saturate the environment with multiple electromagnetic frequencies simultaneously. The response to this endless cellular jiggling is graphically described by Amy Worthington in her article on the radiation poisoning of America. "Human DNA hears this energetic cacophony loud and clear, reacting like the human ear would to high volume country music, R&B plus rock and roll screaming from the same speaker simultaneously. Irradiated cells struggle to protect themselves against the destructive dissonance by hardening their membranes. They cease to receive nourishment, stop releasing toxins, die prematurely and spill micronuclei fragments into a sort of tumor bank account." According to an expert quoted in her article, 2000 hours of cellular phone exposure, or a latency period of about 10 years, increases the risk of brain cancer by 240 percent.

Many studies have shown that workers exposed to RF/microwave radiation routinely have inflated cancer rates, and the latency period between exposure and disease development is short. Some suspect that communications carriers exceed FCC exposure limits. Once equipment is installed and inspections are completed, it can be cranked up to create wider coverage. The FCC has sole regulatory authority over the communications industry, but has neither the money nor the employees to conduct verification testing. Even if they could do the monitoring, their guidelines are obsolete based on current scientific findings that have shown damage to human cells occurs at levels thousands of times lower than current standards permit. In other countries the allowed exposure levels are much less. Russia's standards are 100 times more stringent than those in the U.S., because their scientists have found that human hearts, kidneys, livers and brains are damaged at much lower exposure levels.

When is comes to protecting against radiation, we are on our own.

Since the beginning of the wireless revolution, there have been no federally funded studies to determine the impact of constantly escalating levels of radiation on public health. Most people remain blissfully unaware of their proximity to towers and transmitters. They are also unaware of their levels of exposure in their workplaces where wireless transmitters may be located just a few feet away from them.

Some of the symptoms of overexposure to radiation are heart palpitations, diminishing hearing ability, headaches, sleep disturbance, chronic fatigue, endocrine problems, short term memory difficulties, sleep disturbance, chronic fatigue, frequent infections, reproductive issues, and reduced cognitive ability and information processing difficulties. The development of tumors and cancer is one big indication that something is radically wrong, and that something may be radiation poisoning.

What is a person to do about these symptoms? Right now it looks like the best defence against radiation poisoning is the same as the best defence against all diseases. This defence begins with diet and supplements. Eating a diet high in apples, citrus fruits, cruciferous vegetables, drinking red wine, and using fresh rosemary have been scientifically shown to be effective. Supplements of rosemary extract containing carnosic and rosmarinic acids are widely available. Supplements of DIM offer higher doses of one of the most potent compounds in cruciferous vegetables. Broccoli sprouts are the best source of sulphoraphane, another highly potent compound in cruciferous vegetables. Broccoli sprouts are available as supplements too. Making a pitcher of fresh vegetable juice several times a week for all family members to drink is a great way to fortify everyone against an environment that has turned against them. The juice should contain high amounts of broccoli, cabbage or other cruciferous vegetables. Adding a small slice of fresh ginger will give the juice an appealing flavor. Use only organic or fresh locally grown vegetables if they are available.

Although it may not seem like it, living without the use of wireless devices is possible. Until giant steps are taken in that direction, demanding that wireless emissions from transmitters be drastically reduced is fairly pointless. Demanding the government conduct routine compliance testing at all transmission sites and update federal radiation exposure standards is something that can be done right now.

We can break our radiation addition by giving up wireless internet systems and cell phone calls. Once knowledge is instilled about the devastating health consequences of wireless, it may no longer be fun to play wireless games and chatter on the phone while driving or shopping. If people do not buy WiMAX devices and their related services, the increased brutal bombardment of radiation it promises will be derailed.

OSHA standards say that no environment should be deliberately made hazardous. Armed with the knowledge of what radiation does to human cells, people can refuse to work or shop in environments that endanger their health. They can demand that wireless devices be removed from their children's schools and from their work and entertainment places.

As a nation we bought into the advertisement that cell phones were necessary for an emergency. Yet the emergency happening now is the cell phone. What we thought would keep ourselves and our families safe now threatens to kill us. A look at our teenagers shows that convenience has been replaced by addiction. These teens rarely talk directly to each other, preferring endless communication through text messaging that is already producing teens with carpal tunnel syndrome. It really doesn't have to be this way.

If we as a people are unable to break away from radiation addiction, Mother Nature will take control of the situation. Those lucky enough to adapt to radiation nation will survive and reproduce. Those who cannot keep up genetically will end up like the dinosaurs.

How to safely control spiders.......

Why are spiders difficult to control? Outdoor treatment is necessary to control spiders which are migrating inside or to eliminate spiders on boats, inside garages, on docks, porches, under eaves, and other areas on the outside of the building. Spiders often become particularly numerous on such exterior surfaces of homes and buildings built near lakes. They spin webs to catch and feed on the many flying insects which come out of the lake. Chronic spider problems result, for which there are few good management options except reducing any night lights that are attracting flying insects.Get rid of all needless clutter and excessive moisture to help control spiders. Spiders – as well as the insects they prey on – require a regular water source to survive. Fixing and insulating pipes is an important step. Using a dehumidifier in crawl spaces, basements and attics also helps to make your home inhospitable to spiders and the pests upon which they feed.

Spiders walk on the tips of their eight legs and keep their bodies away from most surfaces. They also do not groom themselves like most insects. This makes it difficult for most pesticides to work effectively on spiders. Many pest control products labeled for spider control may kill some spiders with direct contact, but are rendered useless when it comes to residual control of spiders.

Do you want to know how to get safely and effectively get rid of spiders? Long term control of spiders indoors and on board may involve nothing more than vacuuming up all of the spiders, their webs and egg sacs - I have done this on the exterior of schools and have achieved a full year of control in the North. Kill spiders with a vacuum. Break out the vacuum hose and all its spider-killing attachments as often as necessary to remove webs, egg sacs and spiders. Focus on suspected sites, corners, window sills, along trim, closets, behind furniture, and any dark, protected areas. When finished, remove the vacuum bag (or contents) and seal it in a plastic bag and toss it in an outside trash can - or simply use a wet vac with some soapy water and discard the entire contents into a toilet and flush it all away.

There is another non-toxic method that repels them so completely they run away and often do not come back. It is not an insecticide, and it is basically safe around people and pets. Pets and a few people may not like the smell, but it is non-toxic when used correctly. Spiders TASTE through their feet. I know what spiders do NOT like the taste of, what will repel spiders and what will keep them away. Spiders do not like the taste of citrus! Lemon, orange, lime, all citrus products repel most spiders. They do not kill them, but they do discourage them from setting up home wherever they "taste" these essential oils.

In order to make your own spider repellent you will need:
An empty quart spray bottle
A tablespoon of any citrus essential oil- lemon, lime, orange, citronella.....
A quart of water

Real essential oils must be used, not synthetic fragrance oils, which do not "taste" or repel like real essential oils. You can purchase inexpensive essential oils in many stores. Lemon oil seems to be the strongest smelling, so try that one first. Essential oils are aromatic volatile oils extracted from the leaves, stems, flowers, and other parts of plants. In the case of citrus essential oils, they are extracted from the peel. They are not oily, despite their name, but watery feeling. Essential oils can stain some fabrics, so be careful if you spray them around furniture or clothing. Fill your spray bottle and spray the fragrant mix into all cracks and crevices, around exterior windows, sills and doors inside and outside, and in the basement, crawl space or the mopboards of a slab home. Rain can wash exposed spray away pretty quickly outside, so frequent applications may be necessary. In dry areas and during a drought this spray should continue to repel spiders for an extremely long time. A lemon essential oil mix that I sprayed in my basement in the beginning of this year is still working! There have been no new spiders observed wherever I sprayed.

Essential Oils - Warning- do not use around cats..... Do not allow direct contact with pets. Although essential oils are non-toxic when used in certain applications, there are some exceptions. Essential oils can irritate the nasal passages of pets, and are especially annoying to cats. Cats should never have direct contact with essential oils of ANY kind, as their livers cannot metabolize them, and it can cause liver or kidney damage. Keep your pets out of the way if you choose to spray this spider repellent where they tend to gather, and for heaven's sake, don't spray it directly on your pet. Severe skin irritation will result.

Other spray alternatives - You can also spray vinegar diluted and sprayed in spider areas. You can also spray an ounce of Safe Solutions peppermint enzyme cleaner (and add a few drops of citrus essential oils) to a quart of water.

Food-Grade Diatomaceous Earth (DE). Diatomaceous earth is made of the fossilized remains of ancient algae called diatoms. It is a food-grade, pet and child friendly dust that can be used in the same fashion as other insecticidal dusts. When spiders (or any creature blessed with an exoskeleton) walk over a thin layer of DE, they leak fluids, dehydrate, and die. Apply DE as a perimeter barrier around your home. You can also dust wood and rock piles. Indoors, use DE in basements, crawl spaces, cracks and crevices, door and window thresholds – anywhere you’ve seen spider activity.

Physical Controls: Keeping the spiders out
Get rid of spider entry points. Exclusion – also known as pest-proofing – is an essential part of spider control and indeed all pest control. Here are some things you can do to keep spiders out of your home. Apply weather stripping to all doors and windows. Also, it is a good idea to install door sweeps. You need a tight seal to keep spiders out. Repair all window and door screens using silicone caulk or screen patches. Windows are a common spider entry point, so be sure that each layer, from screen to glass to trim, is sealed completely. Buy some outdoor sealant and a caulking gun. Walk around your home looking for cracks and crevices around your foundation and fill them in. Next look at your siding. You may need a specialized sealant depending on your siding material and color. Be sure to check the lowest edge of your siding for cracks and holes. Lastly, fill in all holes created by utilities: cables, wires, pipes, faucets, outlets, plumbing…etc. Concrete, mortar or expandable foams are also options for filling in holes. Screen all vents leading into the home.
Get rid of spider harborages (hideouts). Once you’ve worked to spider-proof outside, head indoors and start again. First stop is the basement, crawl space, or lowest level. Fill in any cracks or crevices in the foundation and around windows. Find the same utilities you sealed around outside (pipes, plumbing, wires, etc.) and seal them inside. Work your way up from the basement. Spiders hide in cracks in trim, flooring, behind outlets, countertops – any dark secluded space. Of course it would be difficult, if not impossible, to seal all such areas inside the home. Focus your energies where you’ve seen the most spider activity and where your duct tape or spider traps have caught the most spiders.

Vitamin C Prevents Radiation Damage
Nutritional Medicine in Japan

http://orthomolecular.org/resources/omns/v08n06.shtml

(OMNS, Feb 1, 2012) Workers with severe radiation exposure at the Fukushima nuclear plant had major reduction in cancer risk when supplemented with vitamin C and other anti-oxidative nutrients. Sixteen men aged between 32 and 59 years worked 5 to 6 weeks in a radiation contaminated area, collecting contaminated water, measuring radiation levels, operating heavy machinery, and removing debris. Blood samples were obtained to measure whole blood counts and blood chemistry, plasma levels of free DNA, and 47 cancer related gene expressions.

Four workers who took intravenous vitamin C (25,000 mg) therapy before they went in, and continuously took anti-oxidative supplements during the working period, had no significant change in both free DNA and overall cancer risk.

Three workers that did not have preventive intravenous vitamin C had an increase in calculated cancer risk. After 2 months of intervention with intravenous vitamin C and oral anti-oxidative nutritional supplements, free DNA returned to normal level and cancer risk score was significantly decreased. (1)

This important clinical demonstration confirms research done nearly 20 years ago showing that pretreatment with vitamin C, by oral intake or injection, increased sperm head survival after the injection of radioactive Iodine-131 in mice. (2)
Oral intake of alpha-lipoic acid and vitamin E reduced urinary radioactivity and oxidative stress in irradiated children in Chernobyl. (3) Furthermore, there have been numerous scientific studies about the radio-protective effects of other vitamins, minerals, and antioxidative nutrients.
